The Queen mother of Domase I Traditional Council in Brong Ahafo Region Nana Abena Boatemaa has called for the re-introduction of sex education in Ghana. According to her,effective introduction of the course will help minimize the high level of teenage pregnancy among the school going age. Nana Boatemaa said this in her interactions with space in sunyani.Adding that, the level of teenage pregnancy in her community is quite worrisome that measures need to be taking to mitigate the canker. Nana Boatemaa who is also the President for National Council of Women Traditional Leaders in Ghana noted that teachers nowadays are no more interested to take the students through the sex education henceforth the highest level of unwanted pregnancies. She was more optimistic that the trend of teenage pregnancy will be reduced when the necessary authorities steps up. In the another development, the queen mother appealed to the headmasters who are reportedly charging above the stipulated school fees to quickly stop. She urged the education ministry to ensure that these so called headmasters are brought to order. She further asked the Parents Teachers Association PTA in the various schools to speak up on matters of students concern.They should deliberate with the school authorities when they (headmasters) make new proposals to be implemented,she stressed.
